F Magazine
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Since 1968, F Magazine has emphasized publishing excerpts of novels in progress in tandem with short stories and various forms of nonfiction. Past contributors include Charles Johnson, Ray Bradbury, Bonnie Jo Campbell, Etgar Keret, Irvine Welsh, Joe Meno, Carolyn Chute, John McNally, Gina Frangello, Shawn Shiflett, Patricia Ann McNair, Philip Graham, Sam Weller, Jaimee Wriston Colbert, Mort Castle, Mahmoud Saeed, and many other established and emerging authors.
Fmagazine.org strives to reach writers, teachers and students of writing, and the general reader, as well as agents and presses who have discovered writers by reading the excerpts of novels in progress we’ve published. Along with great fiction and nonfiction stories, the website contains sections on writing process, teaching, and literary news and opinion.
We have published a diverse array of stories and have enjoyed a rich exploration of style and voice over the last four decades, and will continue to do so in our online counterpart. F Magazine print editions have primarily contained literary fiction of various forms (e.g. magical realism, folktale, historical fiction, and what some may classify as gay-lit). With fmagazine.org we invite more genre-related material into our library: science/speculative fiction, young adult, mystery, suspense thriller, and fantasy. In our continued commitment to publishing stories that explore life and the human condition through an effective use of voice, scene, and character, genre-related submissions are held to the same high standards as all the work we consider.
Fmagazine.org stories and articles are easily shared and printed. No matter how they’re shared, each piece includes full citation information. If accepted, your work is sure to meet many eyes and share publication space and history with numerous respected and well-known authors. We cannot currently pay for unsolicited work, but we will publicize your writing and name through various forms of social media and other announcements.
